TOPIC: WHO ARE YOU DECEIVING?
TEXT: NEHEMIAH 9:35: For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
So, you think that if your life was easier, you would have been a better Christian? Or if you had more money, you would tithe well? Think again because seventy-five millions of Nigerians go to church regularly, yet only very few pay tithe. We live in the most affluent society in history, in our guest to make sure our kids have the things that matter most. Things like values they can leave by when they face temptation. Things like knowing the difference between getting a head or going on with God. Nehemiah tells us that the Israelites enjoyed God’s great blessings, but they did not serve Him or turn them from their evil ways. Think about it. The things that are supposed to bless us burden us to the point that we can’t give God His rightful position that is our first place in our lives.
Child of God, if you can’t give God one (1) when you have N10, you won’t give Him N100 if you have N1, 000. The mortgage on a bigger home, the payment on an extra car and the need to put more aside for retirement, would push Him to the end of the line, listen brethren, your father longs to bless you, but if He is crowded out by the things you already have can you imagine what would happen if He gave you more. God bless you.
